بدأت ريدريس ومركز الخرطوم لحقوق الانسان وتنمية البيئة العمل في مشروع الاصلاح الجنائي في السودان. وبعد اغلاق مركز الخرطوم لحقوق الانسان وتنمية البيئة انضمت المنظمة السودانية للبحوث والتنمية الى المبادرة كشريك جديد في المشروع. ويعتبر المشروع جهدا تعاونيا تلعب فيه جماعات المجتمع المحلي ومنظمات المجتمع المدني دوراً رئيسياً كأصحاب مصلحة وشأن في تحديد الأولويات وانفاذ النشاطات. ومن أجل هذا الهدف شكّل عدد من المجموعات من كل أرجاء البلاد شبكة تحركها نقاط محوريّة محلية وموضوعاتية، مثلا: افراد يعملون على موضوعات محلية أو على موضوع محدّد، مثل موضوع العنف الجنسي. وتتولى لجنة استشارية مكونة من عشرين من الخبراء البارزين في مجال القانون وغيره من المجالات الاخرى قيادة المشروع وتقديم استشارات حاسمة في ما يتعلق بالقانون والمناصرة. ويعمل شركاء المشروع ايضا بشكل لصيق مع الاعلام لرفع الوعي بالموضوعات ذات الصلة.

ان شركاء المشروع واصحاب المصلحة والشأن على اتصال ايضا مع مسئولين حكوميين ووكالات دولية، مثل البعثة الدولية للامم المتحدة في السودان ( UNMIS )، لتوسيع نطاق عملية الاصلاح القانوني من خلال تبادل المعلومات والمناقشات وحملات الضغط. وفي إطار هذه العملية استضاف المجلس الاستشاري لحقوق الانسان والجمعية السودانية للبحوث والتنمية وريدريس ورشة عمل لمسئولين حكوميين حول الاصلاح القانوني في فبراير 2008.

The Criminal Law Reform Project is open and inclusive. It seeks to engage with all those interested in, and committed to criminal law reform and human rights in Sudan. In so doing, it provides a forum for the exchange of information and ideas on how best to advance to advocate for relevant reforms and on how to ensure that any reforms undertaken adhere to human rights in line with Sudan’s commitments under national and international law.
